Premise
Children and youth with special needs were identified by the Polio Workers of the area. Siblings of two staff members and a few enrolled students also fell in this category. Most of them stayed at home and were confined to one room dwellings without any learning opportunities. This also had a adverse impact on their siblings. The Youth of Communal Hub visited a special needs school in Chitral as their Care Buddies and the interaction between the two groups was found to be emotionally and socially beneficial for both groups. This also helped us learn about the requirements and necessity of creating a special needs space in every locality.
It was decided to set up a dedicated floor to create a specialized learning space for special needs children. The floor will be designed with adaptive infrastructure, sensory-friendly classroom and qualified staff to provide tailored education and therapeutic services, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for their holistic development.
